Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
On April 1, 2014, India became the first country to legally mandate corporate social responsibility. The Act requires companies with a net worth of ₹500 crore or more, or turnover of ₹1,000 crore or more, or a net profit of ₹5 crore or more during the immediately preceding financial year, to spend 2 per cent of the average net profits of the immediately preceding three years on CSR activities.
